Enjoy a fascinating evening lecture at the Chester County Historical Society, 225 N High St, featuring Longwood Gardens Plant Curator, Peter Zale, author of The Layered Garden, David Culp, and famed painter, Adrian Martinez.

The night will begin as the lecturers share their exciting stories of plant exploration from the mid-1700s to modern-day, followed by a wine and cheese reception. Adrian Martinez will share his unique perspective on historic local plantsman Humphry Marshall, David Culp will discuss modern-day plant collections from an industry perspective, and Peter Zale will share stories from Longwood's own plant expeditions to far-away lands.

After the lecture, you will have the opportunity to explore the current exhibit at the Chester County Historical Society, The Visionary World of Humphry Marshall, 1750-1800, accompanied by the artist himself. This exhibit brings to life the people who contributed to the stunning arts and sciences in early Pennsylvania.

Galleries will be open at 6:00pm.
