Vision Statement of the West Chester BID

West Chester BIDThe vision of the West Chester Business Improvement District is to celebrate and encourage engagement in the features that make West Chester special, including:

  • West Chester's 300-year history;
  • outstanding architecture such as buildings designed by Thomas U. Walter and T. Roney Williamson;
  • public art such as the Stone Reliefs by Harry Rosin;
  • walkability as demonstrated by the uninterrupted sidewalks throughout the Borough;
  • an inclusive culture and demographic diversity of the population;
  • contribution to the performing arts by the Uptown! Entertainment Alliance and West Chester University;
  • the marketing of downtown as a shopping and dining destination as the region's social gathering place;
  • supporting cultural events presented by such institutions as the Chester County Historical Society and West Chester Library.

This is articulated by "tag line" phrases such as The Perfect Town and Where Friends and Family Love to Meet. Further, knowing that 3-million visitors come to Southeast Pennsylvania each year, the tertiary market shall be expanded to compliment the hometown market designating West Chester as The Heart of Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley anchored by the Hotel Warner.
