Autumn plantings add seasonal touch to downtown
October 8, 2010
West Chester, PA -- Under the guidance of Gary Zang at DGS Landscaping Company, seasonal plantings are in place at 31 of the downtown planters managed by the West Chester BID. This is part of the newly re-organized Clean & Green program that began in 2009 when all services, which had been contracted, were brought in-house at the West Chester BID. The initial phases were street cleaning, ornamental planting, and repairing planters.
Street cleaning is performed five days week, four hours a day. Cleaning operations also include bagging of the trash bags in overflowing cans on Sunday's to help alleviate overflow. Under the management of this program, over 500 hours of community service workers both from adult and juvenile probation have been performed.
