West Chester Downtown Foundation

West Chester Downtown FoundationThe West Chester Downtown Foundation (WCDF) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that promotes community interest in the vitality, culture, and livability of Downtown West Chester through education, preservation and collaboration.

Currently, the WCDF supports the West Chester Business Improvement District's efforts to brand West Chester as a destination, keep our downtown sidewalks clean, and maintain the permanent planters with attractive seasonal planting.

The WCDF created this awards program to recognize and honor projects both large and small that help highlight and preserve West Chester's historic character. By bringing attention to these projects, the WCDF hopes to encourage and engage business owners and residents of West Chester Borough in good preservation practices to strengthen the Borough's historic fabric. The categories for nomination are:

- The Bricks and Mortar Awards
- The Preservation Service Awards
- West Chester Preservation Legacy Award

Locals gather on the rooftop of the Chestnut Street Parking Garage to celebrate and support the beautification of Downtown West Chester in this annual event. Festivities kick off as the sun sets, with appetizers, followed by a catered buffet dinner, and a dessert selection provided by local restaurants. Live music and an open bar accompany the night, with music by the Donny Syracuse Band and the ever-popular Rooftop Martini as a featured bar selection. This event is a joint fundraising effort between the WCDF and the West Chester BID.

This year's Up On The Roof event takes place on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 from 7pm-11pm.

See more about Up On The Roof here.

In 2004, the WCDF inaugurated a program to allow community members, businesses, and visitors an opportunity to recognize loved ones and organizations through the placement of engraved bricks on the sidewalks near the Historic Courthouse, located at West Market Street and High Street.

The WCDF supports emerging performers and performing arts organizations. They help support the formation of the Uptown Entertainment Alliance, and the West Chester Film Festival.

The WCDF manages an endowment fund that is dedicated to future arts and education. Most recently, the National History Day Awards held at the Chester County Historical Society.

The WCDF provides financial support for worthy, non profit 501(c)(3) organizations in the Greater West Chester Community. The Grants Committee evaluates applications for their ability to meet human needs in the community, the quality of the program to deliver the services, and the match to their organizations mission statement. Applicants must complete and submit an Application for Funding together with supporting documentation, including proof of 501(c)(3) status and latest audited financial report or IRS Form 990.
