Mosteller Garage Under Construction
West Chester PA -- The Mosteller Garage, located at the corner of Chestnut and Walnut Streets in downtown West Chester, is now closed for demolition and construction. JJ Deluca Company is the general contractor to replace the parking facility. Construction will take up to 15 months with an anticipated opening date for the new structure of September or October, 2010.

The new garage will be seven stories and contain 689 parking spaces, 275 more spaces than that of the current garage. All sides will have a precast brick exterior, which is intended to make it blend in with the Borough's historic downtown. There will also be a third elevator, better security, 'graffiti guard' treatment for the stairwells, and other amenities.
"Understandably, this time is difficult for all who rely on the garage but the Borough Parking Department has worked diligently to provide for a smooth transition during the replacement of the Mosteller Garage," said Ernie McNeely, Borough Manager. "We've successfully implemented an alternative parking plan to relocate all of the regular monthly parking patrons for the 18 month period when the garage will be out of service."
The final cost of the project, including parking controls and all of the alternates, is $12,056,850. That computes to $17,500 per space or $53 per square foot. The revenues of the parking system will be pledged to fund the debt that will finance the garage. The West Chester Business Improvement District will assist the Borough in keeping businesses and residents advised of the project and schedules.
