Uptown! Entertainment AllianceApril 19, 2014

West Chester PA — Furthering its mission to bring live theater, music, dance and film to West Chester, the Uptown! Entertainment Alliance (UEA) has announced the new First Friday Film Series starting on May 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 110 W. Market Street, as part of the bi-annual Gallery Walk. The first film will be Mandela–Long Walk to Freedom.

The series coincides with West Chester’s First Fridays shopping and dining events and will continue throughout the summer with subsequent showings on June 6, July 11, August 1, and September 5. Screenings will begin at 8:30pm and viewers will be able to purchase light refreshments, including beer and wine, while they enjoy the films.

UEA President Tom McEvoy emphasized that the Uptown! film series will begin at 8:30 p.m. “allowing patrons to shop and dine at their leisure before heading over to the film, and to enjoy the Borough’s First Fridays events that have been held in West Chester over the past several years.”

Featured films for the First Fridays Film Series were selected as “an alternative to what is shown in the multiplex and to provide thought provoking films for our community,” according to Dr. Mark Beaugard, co-chair of UEA’s planning committee.  Tickets are $7.50 per person, with discounts for groups of four or more, and may be purchased in advance at www.uptownwestchester.org, or at the door.  A list of the featured films is available on the website.
