Infrasource, the PECO subcontractor, is currently working on Church Street between Gay Street and Market Street. This work is part of the next PECO project, called Harmony-1. Infrasource originally planned to do a small section of Gay Street now, so that in the Spring they can repave Gay Street and not have to come back and dig up the street again. After they completed that small section of Gay Street, they had planned to go back to the Harmony-4 project and work on High Street from Chestnut to Market Street.
On all state roads, PennDOT requires trenches to be filled with hot asphalt each day. Infrasource did not factor that in and because temperatures are so cold, asphalt factories are not operating until March or April. The Borough does require hot asphalt on their local roads, so PennDOT will be working on Church Street between Gay Street and Miner Street until they can get hot asphalt.
This is the current planned work schedule:
MON 3/7 – FRI 3/11: Church – Gay to Market (Full Closure) 8AM – 12PM
                         (One Lane) 12PM – 3PM
MON 3/14 – WED 3/16: Church – Gay to Market (Full Closure) 8AM – 12PM
                         (One Lane) 12PM – 3PM
THU 3/17 – FRI 3/18: High Street – Gay to Chestnut (Partial Closure) 9AM- 3PM
As a reminder the Harmony-1 project will affect Market Street between New Street and High Street. Church Street between Gay Street and Miner Street will also be impacted. Infrasource believes Harmony-1 will require 9 months of work, but if Gay Street is any lesson, I would expect it to take longer than 9 months.
We will be sure to keep you updated on which block is affected as the work progresses. If you have a delivery or trash collection impact, please let the BID know. Infrasource can accommodate trash collections and deliveries and it will make it smoother if we give them heads up.
