This week’s “Business Spotlight” is Turks Head Cafe, which is located at 111 N Church Street. We sat down with the owner, Jeremiah Kane, to get the inside scoop.
1. Tell me about your business and what makes it unique.
Turks Head Cafe aims to be your everyday coffee shop! Our friendly and bright atmosphere leads to our homey vibe. We roast our coffee 5 minutes outside of Downtown West Chester at our roastery, Turks Head Coffee Roasters. Along with our locally-roasted coffee, we are working towards supporting other local businesses by offering our store as a marketplace. We host businesses such as Bagel Bistro, Yori’s Bakery, Baily’s Dairy, Aunt Kim’s Gluten Free Bakery, Chaikhana Chai, and Intermezzo Chocolates!
2. What services or products do you offer?
We offer a wide variety of fun drinks, ranging from our signature Nitro Palmer Tea to our double shot topped cold brew (aka Laser Eyes). Our delicious hot espresso-based drinks, such as a frothy cappuccino or a savory dirty masala chai, are sure to get your day started right! We also carry a range of organic teas, plant-based energy drinks, refreshers, frosty frappes, smoothies, and caffeine-free drinks for the kids.
3. How long have you been in business?
The Cafe has been open for 14 months, since June of 2022. We also work closely with Lamont Coffee & Tea, our beverage wholesale and service company. Lamont Coffee & Tea is a 4th generation, family-owned, local business and has been operating for over 66 years, since 1956!
4. What do you love most about being located in West Chester?
Having old friends come back to West Chester and be in awe of the new businesses along with the renovated open space of Jack’s Corner up the street! It makes it feel like a whole new town. Having grown up in West Chester, it is both wholesome and heartwarming to see our local community grow together and adapt to the challenges we face. The Gay Street closure supports Downtown West Chester as a fantastic place to meet new lifelong friends while also creating more space to enjoy with old friends and family.
5. What can you tell me about the culture or atmosphere of your business?
Turks Head Cafe is your hometown coffee shop. It’s a place to take your family for a pit stop while walking around the town. Or park up and hang out for a few hours to enjoy some live music on Saturday or Sunday mornings. The Cafe is a place for established and hopeful entrepreneurs or artists to mingle and exchange ideas and strategies. We aim to be your local home away from home. Come hang a while, sit back, and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of West Chester, PA.
