This week’s “Business Spotlight” is The Green House, which is located at 107 N Church Street. We sat down with the owner, Peter Giuffre, to get the inside scoop.
1. Tell me about your business and what makes it unique.
The Green House is unique because of the amount of work that goes into what you see on the shelves. The process starts at my house, where I make the pots, propagation stations, vases, and home goods out of cement, jesmonite, or wood. Then pick out which plants would go best with each piece, and from there we plant it and price it. Although labor intensive on our end, I think it makes for a truly unique piece of “art” that you can’t find anywhere else!
The other unique aspect of our shop is that all of our other products are non-toxic and organic, from the baby clothes and products, to the health/beauty wall, to the beeswax candle/essential oil section. In today’s world of poorly made items and chemical-filled products, we are committed to only carrying products that are proven to not harm you, your family, or your pets!
2. What services or products do you offer?
The Green House offers high-quality houseplants, handmade pottery & home goods, plant supplies & accessories, and organic home, baby, and body products. We also offer residential/commercial indoor plant design & installation services.
3. How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for roughly 5 months!
4. What do you love most about being located in West Chester?
I love the community of small business owners, locals, and repeat customers that we’ve built relationships with. On top of that, it’s a fun and picturesque town where there’s always something going on!
5. What can you tell me about the culture or atmosphere of your business?
We want our business to be inviting and for our customers to feel comfortable spending time browsing our selection of plants and products. We always have calming essential oils in the diffuser, music in the background, and lots of good energy and oxygen from all of the plants! We want people to succeed with their houseplants, so we welcome any and all questions about the best choices for their home! We offer to plant their choices in the pot for them (if it is not pre-potted) so that they can avoid that extra step of buying soil and making a mess in their house.
6. Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?
We’re open 7 days a week, 11am-6pm on weekdays and 10am-6pm on weekends. We are constantly changing our selection of plants, handmade items, etc. so each time you come back in there’s something new and exciting.
