This week’s “Business Spotlight” is Root Function, which is located at 117 W Gay Street Suite #324! We sat down with Dr. Danielle Perna-Amari, who co-owns Root Function along with her husband, Bob Perna-Amari.

1. Tell me about your business and any particular things you believe make it unique.

Our practice focuses on chiropractic care for the perinatal and pediatric populations. These are two phases of life that have their own unique needs and can make a great impact on quality of life, birth outcomes, and developmental progress. I have done extensive training in perinatal and pediatric chiropractic education and will soon be certified through the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association (ICPA). Our practice is very rooted in holistic care and the belief that the body is capable of doing great things when given the fair chance to do it!

2. What services do you offer?

We offer chiropractic care to moms and babies, alongside perinatal, neurodevelopmental, and lifestyle education. I am graduating with my Master of Science in Functional Medicine and Human Nutrition this September and utilize that education in my patient care to offer patients more options to care for their bodies naturally.

3. How long have you been in business?

We’ve been in business since 2020, when we moved from Portland, Oregon!

4. What do you love most about being located in West Chester?

We really love the community here! We have been so fortunate to have the most wonderful patients and referral partners. We really love the walkability of West Chester and the various small businesses that make it a special place to live and work in.

5. What can you tell me about the atmosphere of your business?

Our office is located in the Gay Street Commons, and we have made it our own little healing oasis. We love that it mirrors the direct care that we provide to each patient we serve. We truly tailor each experience to the individual in front of us and take our time with each patient. That has been one of the most mentioned aspects of our practice that people really love, as well as the special care it takes to work with pregnant women and kids! We want our patients to realize their bodies are capable of many great things and that they can feel good living in their bodies.

6. Is there anything else you would like to share?

My husband, Bob, is also part of the practice and is a human biomechanics specialist. We opened a second location off State St. in Kennett Square in 2022, where Bob’s space is located with all of his training equipment. His work is great for people with a history of injuries that pop up every time they are trying to get active again, youth athletes, and those who want support meeting their physical goals in a restorative way. His work is heavily focused on the fascial system and its relationship to the nervous + musculoskeletal system.
