This week’s “Business Spotlight” is Hop Fidelity, which is located at 121 W Market Street! We sat down with the owner, Byron Greatorex.

 

1. Tell me about your store and any particular things you believe make it unique.

Hop Fidelity came about out of my love for the vinyl format and craft beer. I’ve been an owner of a record store since 2005, but this is my first foray into offering beer service. On tap, there is always a revolving selection from local breweries. Our selection of records is well organized and we pride ourselves on accurately grading and curating our used vinyl. We aim to keep the bins free of junk. We are the only store in Pennsylvania and one of just a handful nationwide that will pour you a brew to sip as you browse the record bins!

 

2. What services or products do you offer?

We offer new and used vinyl records, a small but highly curated selection of cassettes, new and used books and graphic novels (primarily focusing on the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres), new turntable and speaker systems, and limited edition screen printed artwork. We also pour beer from local breweries and stock craft sodas from Reading Soda Works.

 

3. How long have you been in business?

We opened on February 29th, 2020. The last 2 ½ years have been interesting, to say the least!

 

4. What do you love most about being located in West Chester?

I’m not originally from here, but my family and I moved to PA in 2018. Of all the places I looked to put my business, I’m really glad I landed in West Chester! Watching the way this town supported its businesses during the pandemic, lockdowns, and restrictions was truly great. The folks that live here seem very proud of their borough.

 

5. What can you tell me about the culture or atmosphere of your store?

We intend to be very laid back and welcoming to all. Music appeals to everyone on some level. I’m trying to cultivate an atmosphere that invites you to hang out, have a beverage, listen to music, and maybe have a conversation.

 

6. Is there anything else you would like to share about your store?

 We buy records! If you’ve got a collection and it’s come time for it to move on, let us know! We’re happy to make house calls and will travel far and wide.
