Charlie Barney is a Philadelphia area actor & educator who came out of Rowan University’s department of Theatre and Dance. Credits include, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Arden), RENT (BTOP) Heathers The Musical, Newsies(The Road Company) RENT, and Upcoming Jesus in Godspell with New Light Theatre this August at West Chester University.
Ian DeNolfo is a Metropolitan Opera tenor, and has sung leading tenor roles in many of the world’s greatest opera houses. Ian was proud to have been mentored by the great Placido Domingo, singing multiple dramatic tenor roles under the baton of Maestro Domingo. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music. Ian has also appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras throughout the world. He is considered to be one of the great dramatic tenors of his generation.
Aidan McDonald (he/they) is a multifaceted artist based in Philadelphia. He holds a B.A in Theatre from Rowan University. They also attended the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Recent credits: Assassins; Once (City Theater Company), The World According to Snoopy; Robin Hood (Hedgerow) The Fantasticks; The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (Masquerade). Aidan coaches Camden Catholic High School’s Shakespeare Troupe. “Love to family and friends—thanks for being here.”
Carolyn Nelson is very happy to return to the Uptown after being in West Chester Studio’s production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in 2021. Recent musical theater roles include Desiree Armfeldt in A Little Night Music and Tanya in Mamma Mia. Carolyn will be portraying the Reverend Mother in the upcoming production of Nunsense at Uptown in August. When not treading the boards, Carolyn performs as a jazz vocalist. She has sung with jazz ensembles and big bands and appeared at the Rainbow Room in New York City. Check out her CD, Come a Little Closer, on Pandora Radio.
Maggie O’Connor (she/her) is a Philadelphia-based theatre artist and educator, currently serving as the Assistant Director of Education here at Uptown! She is a graduate from Rowan University where she received a BA in Theatre (concentrations in Acting, Directing, and Pre-Teaching), and a Master of Science in Teaching for Theatre. Most recently, Maggie directed Matilda Jr. and The Little Mermaid Jr. here at Uptown, and was just seen as Emma Katz in Players Club of Swarthmore’s Children’s Series production of Yo, Vikings! She sends much love to her students, family, friends, and fiancée, Ryan.
Cathy Ogden is thrilled to join this cast on the Uptown stage. She has performed professionally since graduating from Duke University. Some theater career highlights include: Broadway (Brooks Atkinson Theatre)- Street Corner Symphony; National tour-Sound of Music (Maria); Off-Broadway- And the World Goes ‘Round, Castles; Regional- Mamma Mia (Donna), Next to Normal (Diana), Ragtime (Mother), The Spitfire Grill (Shelby) & Carousel (Julie). Sara Anne Rabatin (she/her) is an artist educator, director, and performer based in Philadelphia. Her goal is to create and foster work that is collaborative, accessible, inquisitive, and full of joy. Sara’s pedagogical and performance practices are based in, Somatics, Embodiment, Process Drama, and community building. She currently teaches at Community Music School in Trappe, PA, St. David’s Nursery School, and keeps her own private studio as well. Sara has a deep interest in Theatre for Young Audiences, and using it as a tool for radical joy and empathy in communal spaces. Her original TYA play Under the Moon premiered in 2019 at the Shoebox Theatre Festival, and had a run at the Jersey Fringe Festival. Sara earned her Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre (concentrations in Musical Theatre and Pre-Teaching) from Rowan University in 2018. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Educational Theatre in Colleges and Communities at New York University. For Karma and Adam
Therese Walden-Murphy adores her work as Director of Education at Uptown.
Some of her favorite professional credits include: Betty Blake (Will Rogers Follies), Olivia (Twelfth Night), Mme. Giry (Phantom of the Opera), Elsa (The Sound of Music), Lady Capulet (Romeo & Juliet, The Musical), Judy/Ginger (Ruthless!), and Roxanne (Cyrano de Bergerac). Therese holds an MFA in acting, received a Best Actress Dramalogue Award and was nominated for a Best Actress Robby Award while in LA. Therese joined the 1997 Broadway Company of Annie as Martin Charnin’s assistant director. She directed over 25 student productions for WCStudio and Uptown Studio and is a proud member of AEA and SAG/AFTRA. Therese is a “proud mama” of all her kids at Uptown Studio and enjoys watching them take their voices out into the world and make a difference.
Lisa Willson DeNolfo has sung leading roles in many of the world’s great opera houses and concert halls. Her most recent performances include soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Temple University Symphony Orchestra at the Kimmel Center, Wagner’s Liebestod with the Lansdowne Symphony, and selections from Wagner’s Die Walküre and Die Götterdammerung, including Brünnhilde’s Immolation Scene with The Lower Merion Symphony. On the operatic stage, she has portrayed many of the lirico-spinto and young dramatic roles such as, Tosca, Ariadne, Jenufa, Desdemona, Rosalinde, Fiordiligi, Countess, Donna Elvira, Goose Girl, Michaela, Violetta, and Komponist. Lisa recently earned her D.M.A. at Temple University and previously attended Academy of Vocal Arts, Juilliard Opera Center, the Manhattan School of Music. And The University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music. She is the founder of the Willson Vocal Academy in Bryn Mawr which is comprised of six faculty members. She loves teaching and inspiring voice students of all ages. Lisa is a the president of NATS Greater Philadelphia chapter and a proud member of The Voice Foundation.
