An Evening of Love Songs
February 1, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
| $35Uptown! is proud to present this concert as an expression of joy told through a variety of songs, each with their own way of offering the universal message of “Love.” Enjoy Paul Jost and his trio of world class artists (Jim Ridl, Dean Johnson and Tim Horner) as they explore these heartfelt compositions, including some of their favorites by Tony Bennett and as told by one of the best story tellers today.
When describing this unique vocalist, arranger and educator, two thoughts are shared by critics and contemporaries; “Passionate storyteller” and “One of the best male jazz vocalists since Mark Murphy.”
“Paul Jost truly is one of the most creative voices in the world of jazz. He has an amazing ability to connect with his audience only to kidnap them for a journey through his unique creative world. It’s a trip I would take any day, any time.” Jan Veldman – Jazz In Europe
“Not a jazz vocal recital but really an audio cinematic experience, this is a valentine for listeners who like to get to the music behind the music and be enchanted. And he brings it all home in an amazing style… a real tour de force. Chris Spector – Midwest Record
Jost is a much-needed visionary voice of our time, meeting our fraught collective moment with empathy, soulfulness and ultimately, a sliver of forward thinking hope. Jonathan Widran – JW Vibe
Jost and his quartet perform around the world and are a mainstay on the New York City jazz scene. They were honored to be selected by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to tour as part of the American Music Ambassadors program (A.M.A.) implemented by the Association of American Voices. Paul is proud to announce the release of his latest offering “While We Were Gone.” A double album recorded live in Brooklyn at Soapbox Gallery throughout the pandemic and already receiving outstanding reviews.
