Melton Center seeks support to restore pool

West Chester PA -- The Melton Center is asking for support for an important community effort -- the restoration of the only outdoor community pool in the Borough of West Chester.
Once known as the West Chester Community Center, the pool is located at the Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center on East Miner Street (The name was changed to honor one of West Chester's most notable leaders).
The pool was once a summer gathering place for the community, but has been out of service for about 15 years. To fund the restoration, community leaders have launched a capital campaign called #PoolTogether. The goal is to raise $250,000 to have the pool ready for the Melton Center Centennial Celebration in 2017.
For almost a century, the Center has been offering educational, recreational, and civic programs for the community. It continues to be an important resource for sports leagues, after-school programs, alternative schooling (in partnership with the West Chester Area School District), and many other community activities and family events.
The restoration of the pool will allow expansion of programs that will provide an important community resource of teaching life skills.
