RECENT PROJECT COMPLETIONS in DOWNTOWN WEST CHESTER

Chestnut Lofts  Chestnut Street Lofts

Chester County Historic Courthouse  Historic Courthouse

$1.4-million in improvements have been made to the 1846 Historic Courthouse allowing court functions to return.

 

Church Street Improvement Project  Church Street Improvement Project
New sidewalks, curbs, trash containers, lampposts, and trees have been installed on Church Street between Chestnut and Miner Streets. The $1.4-million project is funded by the Chester County Department of Community Development, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and West Chester Borough.

PENDING DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Mosteller Corner Development   Mosteller Corner Redevelopment
The E. Kahn Development Corporation and JLoew & Associates are proposing a 60-foot commercial development at the southeast corner of Gay & Church Streets that includes a 10,000 sq ft plaza considered by the developers as the front door of the property. It calls for retail space on the ground floor and office space on the upper levels for a total of 45,000 sq ft. See more.

 

Chester County Historical Society  New permanent exhibit at CCHS

The Chester County Historical Society (CCHS) is creating a $3.7 million multi-gallery exhibition called Chester County: A Place in History. This exhibition provides a dramatic experience for visitors as it focuses on stories of 300 years of Chester County history.

 

Historic Post Office  Historic Post Office
The US Postal Service is in the process of selling the existing Post Office at 101 East Gay Street and relocate postal services to another downtown location. See details at Post Office proposes to relocate downtown.

A 120-room, full-service hotel has been approved for the corner of Gay & Walnut Streets.

ELSEWHERE IN WEST CHESTER

Forest Manor Apartments, 615 Downingtown Pike
This project is an interior renovation of 62 residential units. The approximate projection for completion and occupancy is summer 2014.

Paxson Park Housing Development, 500 & 600 blocks of Dean Street
This project includes construction of 12 single family homes. The final house is being constructed and the project is expected to be completed by summer 2014.

West Chester University Foundation – Dorm C, 704 South New Street
This project includes 653 beds. Completion is projected for summer 2014.

South New Street Parking Garage
Winter has delayed closing out this construction project as the screen wall final change order and some minor punch list items still remain to be completed. It is now projected the final work will be completed by June.
