West Chester, PA -- More than 350 students from West Chester University came downtown during the weekend before Thanksgiving to help "hang the greens" throughout downtown.

"These students deserve our thanks for helping make West Chester a more festive place during the holiday season," said Carolyn Comitta, Mayor of West Chester.

The "Hang the Greens" program is sponsored each year by the Greater Chamber of Commerce of West Chester. Participating businesses are able to purchase the greens from the Chamber and volunteers hang them throughout the downtown area.

"This program really sets West Chester apart from other areas," said Mark Yoder, President of the Greater Chamber of Commerce of West Chester. "It sets the stage for Old-Fashioned Christmas which is West Chester's largest community event."

Old-Fashioned Christmas, sponsored by Mars Drinks, runs November 29 through December 1.
