Borough Council considers adding hours of operation to meters and garages

West Chester, PA -- The West Chester Borough Council is considering increasing the hours of operation of the downtown parking meters and Borough garages. This is due to the need to increase budget revenues to balance the $1.5 million shortfall in the 2011 municipal budget. This is unprecedented for the Borough, but in this current economy most municipalities are experiencing severe financial issues.
Under consideration are the following changes (does not include Justice Center Garage):
2) Open parking garages for the following events ($5 flat fee):
3) Extending enforcement of on-street and lot parking meters:
4) Meters installed on the following blocks:
There will be discussion on the proposed budget at the Borough Council Finance Committee on Tuesday, December 7, 6:30pm and a Public Hearing on Wednesday, December 15, 7:00pm. Both at the Borough Council Chambers, 401 E Gay Street.
